مولوی عبدالحمید، امام جمعه اهل سنت زاهدان ایران در تازه‌ترین سخن‌رانی خود مقام‌های گروه طالبان را «عزیزان» خطاب کرد و گفته است که می‌ترسد «عمل‌کرد طالبان به اسلام ضربه وارد کند.»
امام اهل سنت زاهدان ایران امروز (جمعه، ۱۱حمل) در خطبه نماز جمعه با انتقاد از سیاست‌های گروه طالبان در قبال آموزش دختران، گفت که دلش برای اسلام می‌سوزد.
او افزود است که طالبان باید خود را با عصر حاضر که شرایط خاص خود را دارد، همگام کنند.
به گفته‌ی مولوی عبدالحمید حال دوره خلفای راشدین نبوده و این عصر نیازهای دیگری دارد و باید اسلام را در عصر حاضر عرضه کرد، باید نگاه بلند داشت آن‌چه که در قرآن آمده است. «نه با فتوای یک هزار سال پیش یک فقیه.»
به باور او «امام ابوحنیفه اگر امروز زنده می‌بود، صدها فتوای خود را تغییر می‌داد. دنیا عوض شده است.»
او گفته است که در دین اسلام بر فراگیری علم دینی و دانش روز برای زن و مرد تأکید شده است. با این حال او اضافه کرده است که می‌ترسد عمل‌کرد طالبان «به اسلام ضربه وارد کند.»
این روحانی ایران در بخش دیگری از سخنانش، تأکید کرد که طالبان باید از همه اقوام، گویندگان زبان‌ها و مذاهب دیگر در رژیم خود کار گیرد. او گفت نباید هیچ قومی احساس کند که مورد تبعیض قرار گرفته است.
امام جمعه زاهدان خاطرنشان کرد که حتا اگر افراد غیرمسلمان هم در افغانستان زندگی می‌کنند، باید از شایستگی آن‌ها استفاده شود و با افغان‌های مخالف این گروه در خارج از کشور، بنشینند، گفت‌وگو کنند و هم‌کاری و همراهی آنان را به دست بیاورند.
مولوی عبدالحمید از جامعه جهانی خواست که «انصاف» داشته باشد و رژیم این گروه را به رسمیت بشناسد. نام‌برده گفت به جز برخی موارد، امنیت کنونی افغانستان «بی‌سابقه» است. او هم‌چنین ادعا کرد که طالبان فساد مالی را «ریشه‌کن» کرده است.
