به گزارش روزنامه دان پاکستان، شهباز شریف، نخست‌وزیر این‌کشور، برای تولید برق ارزان با استفاده از سوخت‌های فوسیلی، به وزارت تجارت این کشور دستور داده است که زغال سنگ مرغوب با ارز کلدار از افغانستان وارد کند.
بر اساس گزارش‌ها، این دستور را پاکستان در تلاش برای تولید برق ارزان روز گذشته (دوشنبه) صادر کرده است.
دفتر نخست‌وزیر پاکستان گفته است: «این نه تنها برق ارزان تولید می‌کند؛ بل‌که به صرفه‌جویی در ارز گران‌بهای خارجی کشور کمک می‌کند.»
نخست‌وزیر پاکستان دستور داده تا انتقال زغال سنگ از افغانستان بهبود یابد و وزارت راه آهن پاکستان باید تمام اقدامات لازم را برای اطمینان از تحویل سریع زغال سنگ وارداتی به نیروگاه‌های تولید برق انجام دهد.
در عین حال، قرار است پاکستان کمیته‌ای از مقام‌های پاکستان را با ریاست خواجه آصف، وزیر دفاع به منظور تسریع روند واردات زغال سنگ ایجاد کند.
در نشستی که در مورد واردات زغال سنگ از افغانستان تشکیل شده است، به آقای شریف گفته شده که واردات زغال سنگ از افغانستان دست‌کم ۲.۲ میلیارد دالر در لایحه واردات پاکستان صرفه‌جویی می‌کند.
پاکستان در حالی در واردات زغال سنگ از افغانستان عجله دارد که قیمت این محصول در بازار جهانی در حال افزایش است.
پاکستان زغال سنگ را با نصف بها از افغانستان خریداری و ذخیره می‌کند.
