Dialogue preferred path, not violence: US Envoy

The US Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Thomas West, visiting some political figures in Istanbul, Turkey, underlined that dialogue is the preferred path, not violence.

“Another theme was that there needs to be a peaceful way forward. Dialogue is the preferred path, not violence,” West said.

“I underscored America’s enduring commitment to the Afghan people, our resolve in working with others to address the humanitarian crisis, and our support for dialogue among Afghans about the future of their country.”

West expressed his deep concern regarding the Taliban recent decisions, in particular the future of women and girls.

It is mentionable that earlier West in Afghan Future Thought Forum said that every Afghan participant voiced support for dialogue and opposition to armed conflict which met bitter reactions.
