The US media citing this country’s officials reported that Russia has asked China for military equipment to support its invasion of Ukraine. According to the US media outlets this act has led to sparking concern in the White House that Beijing may undermine western efforts to help Ukrainian forces defend their country.
Financial Times in a report said that Russia is seeking military help from China. A US official told FT that there were signs that Russia was running out of some kinds of weaponry as the war in Ukraine approaches the start of its third week.
The spokesperson for China’s embassy in Washington, Liu Pengyu, responded to media reports on Sunday that he never heard of this issue.
He said that China is deeply concerned and sad about the situation in Ukraine, adding, “the high priority now is to prevent the tense situation from escalating or even getting out of control.”
The Washington Post also released such a report.
According to the Washington Post, American officials have not stated the clear type of military aid that Russia has requested.
According to the US media Russia has expanded its cooperation with China.
Though, Russia calls its attack on Ukraine as “special operation,” and unlike what it thought to be, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is slow because of resistance of Ukrainian army and people.
China so far has not denounced the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but stressed that issues must be resolved through talks.
China considers itself an unbiased part in China-Ukraine conflict, and has not condemned Rissia’s invasion. US president has not seen any sign that president of China to pressure president Putin.
