High representative of the EU for foreign affairs and security policy, Josep Borrel Fontelles, emphasized on joint support of the EU and UN of women and girls in Afghanistan.
“Jointly with the UN, we continue to stand with the Afghan people, in particular women and girls,” Borrel stated while receiving Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Amina Mohammed.
He called his meeting as “informative discussion.”
UNESCO has dedicated the International Day of Education to women and girls in Afghanistan.
Taliban closed the schools’ doors for girls after their domination, and recently they have suspended girls’ higher education and women’s work for NGOs.
