Taliban building a $400,000 mosque in Wardak

by Aamaj News

After laying the foundation stone of a Madrasa that is to be built at a cost of $150,000 in Balkh, the Taliban-run Bakhtar news agency stated that the group has started construction of a $400,000 mosque in Maidan Wardak.

Bakhtar News Agency wrote today September 24 that this two-story mosque will be built on 9 acres of land with the capacity of hundreds of worshippers.

The Taliban say that this mosque will be built in the Saydabad district of Wardak province.

This is while the Taliban started the construction of a Madrasa in Balkh’s Nahri Shahi district yesterday at the cost of $150,000.

The construction of Madrasas and mosques in different parts of Afghanistan is at a huge cost, while the World Food Program (WFP) recently announced that Afghanistan is one of the countries with more than one million people at the “emergency level of hunger”.
