Mohammad Yunus Rashid, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture of the Taliban, stated that the Islamic conditions for the education of women and girls in Afghanistan are not yet available. He added: “We have a reason for closing girls’ schools that we don’t tell people.”
This Taliban official spoke among the students of Paktia University yesterday and said that the students have asked him many times about the closure of schools and universities, and he emphasized that the Taliban do not want to talk openly about the reasons for the closure of schools.
Mohammad Yunus Rashid continued his speech and claimed that this ban is for a limited time.
He didn’t explain why Taliban officials avoid explaining their views on women’s education.
Earlier, the Minister of Higher Education of the Taliban commented that the reason for closing the universities to girls was not respecting proper dress and gender segregation.
This is even though Afghanistan is the only country in the world where the education of women and girls has been stopped for two years and the Taliban have continued this ban on education under the name of Sharia.
