There will be no recognition for Taliban’s regime, the EU special envoy says

The EU special envoy for Afghansitan, Tomas Niklasson, in a meeting with foreign minister of India S. Jaishankar said that no country in EU intends to reopen its office in Afghanistan.

He said that a number of the union’s employees will be in Afghanistan to offer humanitarian assistance.

Mr. Niklasson added that the EU is not in hurry to recognize the Taliban’s regime or their de facto government. Although they will engage with them.

He reiterated that the EU has increased the amount of its humanitarian assistance from €60 million to €300 million to Afghansitan.
