Taliban turned a market for women’s handcrafted products into their military base

Sources in Takhar told Aamaj News that Taliban turned the only market for women’s handcrafted products into their military base.

The market had been made by Agha Khan foundation and GIZ in Ai-Khanoum area back in previous government period, but the Taliban turned it into their military base.

The market has dozens of shops, and hundreds of women used to sell their products from sixteen districts of Takhar province.

The women in Takhar expressing their concerns say that in this bad economic situation the Taliban are restricting women instead of helping and providing them with the work opportunity.
