Taliban’s nominated person to the UN, Suhail Shaheen, welcomed remarks of UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, on conditional unfreezing Afghan frozen assets.
Mr. Guterres on Thursday said to journalists that freezing Afghan assets has bad consequences, and pointing to the current situation of Afghanistan said, “rules and conditions that prevent money from being used to save lives and the economy must be suspended in this emergency situation.”
Shaheen thank Guterres for drawing attention to situation in Afghanistan.
Guterres emphasized that people sell their children to feed other members of their families in Afghanistan.
According to Guterres half of the country’s population need urgent assistance for saving their lives.
