Saleh reprimands Khalilzad accusing him of deceiving politicians

Former vice president, Amrullah Saleh, reacting to recent remarks of former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Zalmay Khalizad, stated that in a group of “deceived ones” he belonged to “truthful minority.”

“I wasn’t wrong about knowing the Taliban neither yesterday nor today, the story is not over yet,” earlier today March 01, 2023, Mr. Saleh had tweeted and hours later deleted the tweet.

Former vice president reprimanded Khalilzad accusing him of deceiving politicians, and called trusting him “a big mistake.”

“We believed the United States promises and this was our historic and huge mistake. However, our combat continues ”he criticized the US plans for Afghanistan.

“I accept that I thought a superpower from the president to you [Khalilzad], no more than a pawn, would not lie. I was deceived.”

Saleh emphasized that resistance will be dominated at last, and“those who caused this tragedy in Afghanistan will forever seek to justify their dishonor.”

The news comes as Khalilzad in an interview with BBC said that Ashraf Ghani, despite his statements that he was not Amanullah Khan to run away; but he ran away. He also said that former vice president did not keep up his promises asking, “What did Saleh say regarding fighting the Taliban? Where did he go? What did he do?” which met Saleh’s bitter reaction.

It has been three years since the signing of Doha Agreen according which the US withdrew its soldiers from Afghanistan, and the people in the know believe that it was the beginning of republic’s collapse.

Khalilzad also said that the US managed to kill the leader of Al Qaeeda after Taliban’s takeover. There is the possibility that the Taliban have given the information about Zawahiri’s whereabouts.
