Russian and Ukrainian authorities carried out one of the biggest prisoner swaps so far, exchanging a total of 218 detainees, including 108 Ukrainian women. Ukrainian authorities said a number of detained women were ordinary people.

“The more Russian prisoners we have, the sooner we will be able to free our heroes. Every Ukrainian soldier, every front-line commander should remember this,” Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy said.

Andriy Yermak, Zelenskiy chief of staff, said there were 12 civilians among the freed women, adding that 37 of the women had been captured after Russian forces took the giant Azovstal steelworks in the port city of Mariupol in May.

Additionally, Reuters reported that a Russian Sukhoi Su-34 fighter plane crashed into a residential building in the southern city of Yeysk shortly after take-off on Monday.

Six people has been killed, 19 others wounded and 6 are missing.
