The former head of the UK’s armed forces, General Sir David Richards, urged the world to engage with “new leadership in Afghanistan.”
He in an interview with BBC Radio 4 said that the West must recognize Taliban, so that people overcome the humanitarian crisis.
“There’s a great phrase: be magnanimous in victory. I think this is the occasion for us to be magnanimous in defeat,” the former defence chief added.
The news comes as no country has recognized Taliban after their domination.
After Taliban’s takeover the Afghanistan’s economy is on the brink of collapse, and more than half of its population are facing extreme hunger.
