Suicide bomber on Shiites mosque in Peshawar was an Afghan exile: Pakistan police

by Aamaj News

Pakistani media quoting the police of this country reported that suicide bomber on Shiites mosque in Peshawar was an Afghan member of ISIS.

On Friday the attack took place, and as a result 64 people killed in Imambarga mosque in Peshawar.

Pakistani officials said the attacker was an Afghan national in his 30s who moved to Pakistan with his family decades ago, and after receiving training returned to Afghanistan.

“Islamic State-Khorasan is becoming a strong threat for us. They are operating from Afghanistan but they have sleeping cells here,” a top Pakistani police official said.

The news comes as Taliban committed not to allow anyone to threaten others’ security from soil of Afghanistan. However, last month, the United Nations Security Council said “terrorist groups enjoy greater freedom there than at any time in recent history.”

It is mentionable that after Taliban’s domination in Afghanistan, the level of terrorist attacks have increased in Pakistan. Pakistan was one of the three countries that recognized Taliban in their first rule back in 1996-2001, and right now this country is trying to encourage the world to engage with Taliban. But so far no country has recognized the Taliban.
