Over 800 thousand children to suffer from acute malnutrition in Afg in 2023: WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that 875,000 children in Afghanistan are expected to suffer from acute malnutrition in 2023, which include 125 thousand disabled ones.

According to WHO 2.3 million children are facing malnutrition, but 875000 of them suffer from acute form of it.

“Over 2.3M children may suffer from moderate acute malnutrition, & 840,000 pregnant women & lactating mothers from acute malnutrition,” WHO said.

The level of poverty and hunger has increased unprecedentedly in Afghanistan after the Taliban’s domination. Earlier the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affair had warned that 28 million people in Afghanistan needed humanitarian assistance.
