Nigeria’s government has donated $1 million to the Humanitarian Trust Fund for Afghanistan. Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Hissein Brahim Taha, releasing a statement called it a generous donation.
Mr. Taha said that the donation came in time to add new momentum to OIC’s efforts to contribute to easing the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and to help in catering for the needs of millions of Afghan citizens, including women and children.
The OIC Secretary-General emphasized that the organization remains committed to supporting the people of Afghanistan and will spare no effort in implementing to the full the special resolution on Afghanistan issued by the last extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers held in December 2021 in Islamabad, Pakistan.
It is mentionable that the fund was created by OIC members in Pakistan in its last session.
After Taliban’s domination, Afghanistan is facing unprecedented poverty and unemployment.
The world countries have warned that this country is facing humanitarian catastrophe, unless something be done.
