Protestors called on Oxford Union to cancel speaking event with Hamdullah Mohib

by Aamaj News

The Oxford Union has invited former Afghan National Security Advisor, Hamdullah Mohib, to speak in this union on May 11, 2022.

Now a number of students, scholars, academics, and activists launching a petition urged the Oxford Union to cancel this speaking event with former national security advisor.

“On principle alone Hamdullah Mohib is a national traitor and not fit to represent Afghanistan in a platform like the Oxford Union, especially when an Afghan scholar is not present to respond,” the letter adds.

The protesters added that Mohib is responsible for fall of the government, and he must formally apologize to the people of Afghanistan, but instead, continues to parade around events like this to wash his hands of responsibility.

It is mentionable that Oxford Union is one of the prestigious student unions around the world that sometimes invites eminent figures around the world to deliver speech.

Hamdullah Mohib accompanying Ashraf Ghani fled the country to UAE as Taliban entered Kabul back in mid-August 2021.
