Malaysia offers one hundred scholarship for Afghan students

Acting minister of higher education, Abdul Baqi Haqqani, met special representative of Malaysia’s foreign ministry, Ahmad Azam. Both sides talked about the situation of higher education and the problems in this arena.

According to Bakhtar News Agency in this meeting Abdul Baqi Haqqani said that Afghanistan needs development after the end of war. For achieving this goal the higher education system must be improved.

He appreciated the cooperation of Malaysia. Additionally requested assistance in the field of education as training youths, improving the professional qualities of professors, offering scholarships for students, facilitating internet for online education and some other issues.

In addition acting minister of higher education suggested that in order for successful establishment of Afghan International University a delegation from Nangarhar Islamic university should visit Malaysia.

In the meantime, special representative of Malaysia’s foreign ministry promised that Bukhari university of this country will offer 100 scholarships for Afghan students.

In this meeting, Ahmad Azam appreciated the reopening of universities in Afghanistan and added that Malaysia is ready to cooperate in education, humanitarian, health and other sectors.
