The US Former Spacial Representative for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, once again emphasized that the Taliban leaders must heed the message of Mawlawi Abdul Hamid Ismaeelzahi, an Iranian Sunni Muslim cleric who is regarded as a “spiritual leader for Iran’s Sunni Muslim population”.
“I appreciate Mavlavi Abdul Hamid’s Friday sermon today where he advocated for the reinstatement of women and girls in education and for humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan because of the extreme cold weather,” Khalilzad tweeted.
“Talib leaders should heed his message.”
Ismaeelzahi in his sermon stated that the issue of human rights, girls’ education and women’s work must be resolved in Afghanistan.
He called the reports regarding Afghanistan as “shocking” adding that people in Afghanistan are facing poverty and hardships because of halting political relations with the world.
