Former president, Hamid Karzai, reacting to recent decision by Taliban that ordered female protesters to cover their faces while presenting programs, said that female presenters must not obey the Taliban regarding wearing masks while presenting programs.
Mr. Karzai said the Taliban leadership must “resent this decision” otherwise it will damage Afghanistan’s reputation worldwide.
Karzai said that wearing “huge chador, a huge scarf on the head” is the Afghan tradition; even nomadic women have worn huge chadors for centuries.
The former president once again emphasized on the reopening of schools for girls above grade sixth.
The news comes as Taliban in their latest decree have ordered female protesters to cover their faces while presenting the programs.
The Taliban vice and virtue as well as information and culture ministries have said the decision is mandatory and unquestionable.
This act has provoked internal and international reactions, and some people have called it the Taliban’s tribal vision, neither Islamic nor cultural.
