Nobody injured or killed by gunfire in suicide attack on Kabul airport: CENTCOM

Yesterday, Central Command (CENTCOM) of the US released the result of its investigation about suicide attack on Kabul airport on August 26 as a result 160 Afghan and 13 US servicemembers killed.

According to investigation that attack was not so complicated, and no one was injured or killed by gunfire.

According to CENTCOM the investigation has been carried out by a military team interviewing more than 130 people in a period of three and a half months.

The report quoting the person in charge of this investigation writes at the Abbey Gate an explosive device killed at least 160 Afghan civilians and 13 U.S. servicemembers by explosively propelling ball bearings through a packed crowd. 

According to investigation there is no evidence that anyone was injured or killed by gunfire, either American or Afghan.

Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie, Jr., Commander, U.S. Central Command delivering his opening remarks said that he found the volume of the evidence collected, the testimony of more than a hundred people, the analysis of experts, the findings of fact, and the conclusions of the team based upon that evidence a compelling and truthful examination of the event.

“While nothing can bring back the 11 Marines, 1 Soldier and Sailor that we tragically lost in the attack, it is important that we fully understand what happened,” said McKenzie.

The suicide attack carried out on Kabul airport on August 26, while the US and its allies were evacuating their soldiers and Afghan local colleagues.

It was the first attack after Taliban’s domination that ISIS-K claimed the responsibility.

Although the US has repeatedly rejected the killings of civilians by gunfire, but the result of investigation by Aamaj News reporters showed that a lot of people were killed by gunfire.

According to reports an ISIS-K member who was released by Taliban named Abdul Rahman al-Logari carried out the attack. al-Logari was majoring in engineering, too.
