Taliban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, in a tweet condemned the attack on three Iranian clerics and said the attack does not relate to Afghans and Afghanistan.
On Tuesday, an attacker stabbed three Iranian clerics in Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad, Iran, and as a result one of the clerics died and two others injured.
Iranian officials denounced the attack and called it a terrorist attack.
Iranian president, Ebrahim Raisi, denouncing the attack said that it took place under the influence of US backed “Takfrie current”.
Iranian Tasnim News Agency reported that the attacker is an Uzbek from Afghanistan named Adul Latif Muradi, 21, that past year entered Iran through Pakistan.
Iranian security forces have arrested six other people including two brothers of Muradi.
