The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, speaking at the UN General Assembly once again called for reopening of girls’ schools in Afghanistan. He added that the Taliban must not deprive girls from education.
Guterres added that girls’ education is a vital step towards the security and development of Afghanistan.
He urged the countries to maintain their financial resources for education, and focus on the equipment and quality of lessons and raise the budget of education.
“Education financing must be the number one priority for Governments. It is the single most important investment any country can make in its people and its future,” spelled out the Secretary-General.
The news comes as Taliban under different excuses yet have not allowed the girls to go to school, although the international community has repeatedly forced them and the UN repeatedly requested.
