“I deeply regret that girls’ education above 6th grade remains suspended”: Guterres

by Aamaj News

The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, reacting to closure of schools for girls above grade sixth said that it is an unjustifiable violation of human rights in Afghanistan.

“I deeply regret that girls’ education above 6th grade remains suspended,” Guterres said today April 2, 2022.

He added that support for the rights of women and girls is support that lifts children out of hunger and communities out of poverty.

The news comes as after months of waiting for reopening of schools for girls, Taliban did not allow the girls above grade sixth to return to school and dismissed them until a second order.
