Reuters reported that a teenage gunman killed at least 19 children and two adults at an elementary school in Texas on Tuesday.
Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, said that the suspect, identified as Salvador Ramos, 18, was apparently killed by police officers.
The US president, Joe Biden, ordered flags flown at half-staff daily until sunset on Saturday in observance of the tragedy.
The incident took place at Robb Elementary School in the town of Uvalde, Texas, about 80 miles (130 km) west of San Antonio.
A Texas DPS spokesperson later told CNN that 19 school children and two adults were killed, not counting the shooter.
The news comes as the violence rate has increased recently in the US, and few days ago such an incident took place at a store.
