by Aamaj News

Two years after the closure of girls’ schools in Afghanistan by the Taliban, António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations once again called for the reopening of girls’ schools beyond sixth grade.

“This is an unjustifiable violation of human rights that inflicts long-lasting damage on the entire country”, he added on his “X” page.

According to Guterres, girls belong to schools and the Taliban should allow them to return to their classes.

Today, Monday, September 18th two years have passed since the Taliban banned girls from attending high schools in Afghanistan.

Two years ago, on this day, the Taliban announced that the education of girls beyond sixth grade would be banned until the second decision.
