With arrival of “World Press Freedom Day”, Special Representative of Germany for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Jasper Wieck, expressed his concern over the situation of media and journalism in Afghanistan.

He also urged the restrictions on media must be stopped.

Mr. Wieck said press freedom is of importance for the future of Afghanistan.

The news comes as, Reporters Without Borders in its latest report on “World Press Freedom Day” regarding the freedom of media all across the globe said that Afghanistan has been dropped from 122 to 156 on its press freedom index.

On the other hand, Amnesty International in a message relating to “World Press Freedom Day” said that media are crumbling under the Taliban rule in Afghanistan.
