Taliban Rule Over Afghanistan; Residents of Faryab complain about unemployment

by Aamaj News

While nearly three years have passed since the Taliban rule over Afghanistan, unemployment among the educated youth in this country, especially in the northern province of Faryab, has become a serious problem.

According to Aamaj’s findings, a high percentage of graduates of universities and higher education institutions in this province are facing the problem of joblessness.

Factors such as the lack of job opportunities, incompatibility of learned skills with the needs of the labor market, inability to access financial resources to start private businesses, and failure to use educated human resources by the Taliban are considered as the main reasons for youth unemployment.

Abdul Sabour, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Law and Political Science, told Aamaj News that due to the lack of job opportunities in the offices under Taliban rule, he has been forced to work as a cook in a restaurant.

He also adds that the majority of young people in Faryab province choose to migrate to neighboring countries due to lack of work.

Meanwhile, Dost Muhammad, one of the social figures of Faryab, confirmed the remarks of Abdul Sabour and told Aamaj that numerous young people from this province are going to Türkiye due to the lack of work.

He adds: “The youth of this Faryab are wandering on the way to Iran and Türkiye, there is no job here.”

Abdul Wahab Muradi, a professor at the Faculty of Economics of Faryab University, also believes that unemployment is one of the basic and vital issues in society, which not only leads to economic and social problems, but also plays an important role in reducing the welfare and security of a society.

Muradi adds that to reduce unemployment, there should promote investment, increase in skills, development of new industries and services, promote entrepreneurship and create job opportunities.

Based on Aamaj’s findings, the majority of employees in Afghanistan offices are non-professionals and graduated from Talibani Madrassas.
