جبهه مقاومت ملی افغانستان به رهبری احمد مسعود به مناسبت هشتم ثور، سال‌روز پیروزی مجاهدین افغانستان در برابر ارتش سرخ شوروی، در پیامی گفته است که مردم ما دیروز در برابر تجاوز سرخ ایستادند؛ امروز در برابر تجاوز سیاه هرگز سکوت نخواهند کرد.
این جبهه بار دیگر بر ایستاده‌گی در برابر طالبان اشاره کرده و گفته است که «برای پاسداری از عقیده، استقلال و آزادی کشور، بر ضد گروه مزدور طالبان مبارزه می‌کند.»
هم‌چنان در این پیام گفته شده که رویداد هشتم ثور با وجود برجاگذاشتن یک‌ونیم میلیون شهید و میلیون‌ها معلول و مهاجر، انگیزه تمام آزادگان جهان و نقطه‌ی عطف در تاریخ مبارزاتی برای استقلال و آزادی افغانستان بوده است.
