به گفته‌ی نعمت‌الله حنیفیار در نتیجه‌ی این روی‌داد برادرش با یک عالم دین جان‌باخته و دو تن عالم دیگر زخمی شده‌اند.
حنیفیار می‌افزاید که سه‌سال پیش پدرش که رییس شورای علمای کاپیسا بود نیز از سوی تفنگداران ناشناس کشته شده بود.
