توماس نیکلاسون، نماینده‌ی ویژه اتحادیه‌ی اروپا برای افغانستان یک بار دیگر بر بازشدن مکتب‌ها به‌روی دختران بالاتر از صنف ششم تأکید کرد.
او تصمیم طالبان را در این رابطه محکوم کرد و گفت که برقراری روابط عادی با طالبان وابسته به عمل این گروه به تعهدات شأن نسبت به مردم افغانستان و جامعه بین‌المللی، دارد.
این در حالی‌ست که بیش از ۲۰۰ روز است که مکتب‌ها به‌روی دختران دانش‌آموز بسته است. با این حال و شماری از علما و زنان در نشستی از حق آموزش زنان حمایت کردند.
