The opposition’s lead in Turkish local elections; Erdoğan says he is not satisfied with the result

by Aamaj News

At the same time as the opponents of the Turkish president “claimed victory” in the local elections, including the municipalities of Ankara and Istanbul, the Turkish president Recep Tayyib Erdoğan, in response to the results of the municipal elections, said that he would closely examine the possible mistakes of his party and will correct them.

Erdoğan added in a speech on Sunday night (12 Hamel) that he is not satisfied with the election results.

These remarks came from the President of Turkiye, while Istanbul Mayor Akram Imamoglu from the center-left “People’s Republic” party won 50% of the votes based on the preliminary results.

In Ankara, Mansour Yavas, the current mayor of Erdoğan’s opposition party, claimed that he defeated his opponent from the Justice and Development Party.

The results of Sunday’s elections are a heavy defeat for Erdoğan’s Justice and Development Party.

Meanwhile, an Aamaj News correspondent from Istanbul says that last night the supporters of the opposition to the Turkish president came out on the streets of this city and held a “victory celebration”.
