The US president, Joe Biden, headed to Saudi Arabia after visiting Israel and East Jerusalem. Biden intends to mend the ties between two countries.

President Biden said that he and crown prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud (MBS) agreed on stopping Iran getting nuclear weapons.

Joe Biden added that he raised the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi during a meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“President Biden strongly affirmed the United States’ continued commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial defense, and facilitating the Kingdom’s ability to obtain necessary capabilities to defend its people and territory against external threats,” two sides releasing a joint statement said. “The two sides underscored the need to further deter Iran’s interference in the internal affairs of other countries, its support for terrorism through its armed proxies, and its efforts to destabilize the security and stability of the region. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States stressed the importance of preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.”

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was accused by US intelligence agencies of approving the murder of Kashoggi, but Saudi has repeatedly rejected the issue and added that rogue killers were responsible for his death.

Biden a day before his arrival in Saudi said that his opinion regarding the case of Kashoggi has not changed, and he does not mind enclosing the issue of human rights in Saudi.

It is Biden’s first visit of Saudi Arabia after the start of his presidency.
