The World Bank is finalizing a proposal to deliver up to $500 million from a frozen Afghanistan aid fund to humanitarian agencies, people familiar with the plans told Reuters.
Reuters releasing the report says that board members of the World Bank will meet informally on Tuesday to discuss the proposal, hammered out in recent weeks with the US and UN officials.
Reuters quoting economic experts says that aid will help, but reiterated that it is complicated, and takes a lot of time.
The World Bank suspended its financial assistance funds after Taliban’s domination, and the US froze Afghan assets worth roughly $9 billion.
