Inclusive govt, human rights the key to normalized relation with Taliban: US Envoy

The US Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls and Human Rights, Rina Amiri, stated that foreign ministers and senior officials of Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey and Uzbekistan, along with the US Envoy agreed that inclusive governance and human rights, particularly, the rights of women and girls to education as well as work is the key to normalized relations with the Taliban.

She tweeted that if the Taliban want normalized relations with the world, they must hear the demands of the international community.

She met foreign ministers of Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey and Uzbekistan at the sideline of the UN General Assembly’s session.

“(They) agreed that inclusive governance and human rights, particularly, the rights of women and girls to education and work is key to normalized relations with Taliban,” she added.

The Taliban officials have repeatedly said that their government is an inclusive one, and the demands of the international community in this regard is the intervention in internal issues of Afghanistan.

On the other hand, it has been more than a year since Taliban’s domination in Afghanistan, yet they have not opened the schools above grade sixth for girls.
