Today, March 8, Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) releasing a statement has expressed its concerns over the situation of Afghan female journalists in the country.
AJSC said that women in most of the provinces still are not allowed to work in the media.
AJSC requested the Taliban officials to ensure the access of women to their basic rights and allow female journalists to return to their media work in provinces.
According to the findings of this institution the number of female journalists in Afghanistan has dropped sharply. Last year there were more than 1300 female media workers, but these figures have dropped to less than 300.
It is mentionable that international organizations have repeatedly expressed their concerns over the situation of female journalists in Afghanistan.
The news comes as the media have faced economic problems and self-censorship after Taliban’s domination.
