Afghanistan six months under Taliban’s rule; how is ethnic composition of the government?

by Aamaj News

The recent exclusive survey of Aamaj News indicates that six months after Taliban assumed power still 82.7% of their cabinet composition is Pashtuns and 96.5% of them are their own members. According to this survey 79.4% of governors are Pashtuns and 100% of them are Taliban members. There is no place for women and Hazaras in cabinet composition and governors’ list.

There are 6.7% Tajiks, 6.8% Uzbeks and 3.4% Nuristani in Taliban’s cabinet composition.

There are some people who agree with Taliban’s government, and a number disagree. But it is interesting that some people who yearned for republic, now have changed and are ardent supporters of Islamic Emerate (Taliban).

A number of former politicians request the formation of an inclusive government, and a number of politicians believe that inclusivity is meaningless.

Leader of National Congress Party of Afghansitan, Abdul Latif Pedram, said that inclusivity is a meaningless concept in Taliban’s government. He added that there are only two ways, forming a federal government or dismemberment of the country.

President of Massoud Foundation, Ahmad Wali Massoud, said that international community must realize that forming an inclusive government under the Taliban is not possible. He added that inclusivity does not mean to divide power among ethnic figures.

From Afghanistan’s neighboring countries to European countries and the US have requested the formation of an inclusive government with presence of all ethnic groups representatives.

Iran considers forming an inclusive government the only solution for current situation, and India says that forming an inclusive government must be the priority.

Tajikistan’s president, Emomali Rahmon, emphasizes on forming an inclusive government as well.

President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, also stressed the importance of inclusivity, he added that Turkey will not take a part to run Kabul airport, without an inclusive government and participation of women in social activities.

Imran Khan in his recent interview said that there is no alternative to Taliban, and the world must engage with Taliban.

Russia announced that there is no discussion over Taliban’s recognition, and they request the formation of an inclusive government. The US also urged the formation of a government which represents all Afghans.

But Taliban consider their government an inclusive one. Foreign minister of Taliban said that their government is inclusive and there are representatives of all ethnic groups in it.

How is the situation of people six months after Taliban’s domination?

Right now, the situation in Afghanistan is complicated, in Afghanistan’s modern history it is the first time, there is a government which has failed to gain internal acceptance and international recognition.

After six months, the level of poverty and hunger has increased unprecedentedly, and the only concern of people is a piece of bread to survive.

In these six months, a tragic stalemate has taken over people’s lives. On the one hand, women who want to preserve the achievements of the last twenty years and young people who are thinking of fleeing the country. On the other hand, rulers who think that they have been able to take over the government by force do not need to satisfy the people.

In addition, the media and journalists are considered a serious internal challenge, and any journalist who disagrees with the Taliban is viewed with hostility.

But the main questions, are the Taliban moving in the right direction?

Will the hunger challenge, bring the Taliban to their knees?

A question that will be answered by passage of time.
