ADB announced that it stops work on TAPI untill recognition of Taliban

The News International reported that a top official of energy ministry of Pakistan quoting the proceedings of the recently held meeting in Islamabad between top Turkmen and Pakistani functionaries said that Asian Development Bank(ADB) has stopped all of its activities on TAPI and this project is facing recession.

According to this report ADB has delayed trans-nations $10 billion TAPI.

A Pakistani official said that ADB has stopped supporting TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas line project, major parts of it pass through Afghanistan, untill Taliban gain recognition.

The International News also reported that the spokesperson of ADB said that it has paused all its TAPI project due diligence and processing activities until further notice.”

The TAPI’s length is about 1800 km that 750 km of it pass through Afghanistan from Herat, Farah, Helmand and Kandahar to Pakistan and then India.

Four years ago in opening of this project in Herat province, former runaway president, Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai with presence of president of Turkmenistan and Pakistani foreign minister promised that the people in Herat would benefit from this project within two years, but it did not happen, and Ghani fled the country as Taliban reached Kabul.
